What is the Rosamond MAC?
The Rosamond Municipal Advisory Council (Rosamond MAC or RMAC) is a Kern County
Municipal Advisory Council (MAC)
It is a non governmental organization often formed in
communities that are not yet cities.
What is the Council's function?
Although a Municipal Advisory Council is a governing body, it has no fiscal (monetary) authority or administrative organization. Because it lacks authority to implement its position directly, it seeks to accomplish its goals through county government. These councils face two ways: toward the county, offering the views of the community; and toward the community, supplying information about county proposals and a place where individuals can air opinions on community problems and perhaps receive help.
[back to top]How can I get involved with the Council?
The Rosamond Municipal Advisory Council Board is 'run' in accordance with the MAC By-laws.
Selected members of that Board are elected by the community (registered voters) every 4 years.
Can I obtain information about living in Rosamond from the Council?
The Council does not have access to specific questions. i.e. cost of housing, rentals, building permits, licensing, etc.
However, as a community service, The Rosamond Chamber of Commerce provides some pertinent information about our
community, a 'relocation'
page containing contact points for activating or deactivating utilities, upcoming events, tourism in the area, and much more.
For specific answers to your questions, we would recommend the Kern County Site.
Why isn't Rosamond a City?
The cost of 'operating' a city is quite expensive. At this time, the community does not have a strong enough tax base to provide for that expense. This is due to such factors as number of businesses, and size of population.
[back to top]What are the boundaries of Rosamond?
The boundaries of Rosamond for the purposes of the Town Council are Avenue A to the South, 60th Street West, Dawn Road to the North, and Edwards Air Force Base to the East.
[back to top]What can the Council do for me?
The Council holds both a business meeting and an 'Open Forum' meeting each month. The community
is welcome and encouraged to attend. To know about your community, you must be informed about what
is going on in that community.
The 'Open Forum' meeting is where local community service organizations can make important announcements.
If a member of the public would like to make a comment or raise an issue for the Council to consider, they can also
do that here. Meetings are held the first and third Thursdays of the month at
Hummel Hall.
*** Meetings are now held (effective Aug 2, 2009) only on the 3rd Thursday of each month.
What can the Council do for my business?
Business owners in the community of Rosamond frequently attend Council meetings. Here they can be kept informed from the county and other Rosamond community leaders on issues that affect them. New business owners have also utilized the Council's Forum to inform the public of their presence.
[back to top]Can I advertise on the Council web site?

businesses, clubs and organizations to advertise your presence here with us.
There is no better tool to help you market your company and grow
your business than an online 'sales brochure'. We will ensure the widest
